Zomerjurk en pyjamabroek - Summer dress and pyjama shorts

De eerste zomerjurk is een feit en omdat het hier een paar dagen heerlijk weer was, is 'ie al gelijk in gebruik genomen. L heeft de stof zelf uitgekozen, het is volgens mij een rayon en zal heerlijk dragen komende zomer.

The first summer dress for L is ready. We've already had a couple of lovely warm days so she has already worn it as well. L chose the fabric herself, it's a rayon I believe and it'll be a lovely dress to wear during summer.



















Ook nog een snelle pyjamabroek voor B. Ook hij heeft deze stof zelf uitgekozen, het is een Batman quilting stof en het patroon is uit Ottobre. Er is nog genoeg stof over voor een lange pyjamabroek ook dus hij zal het jaar rond in Batman kunnen slapen. 

Also made a quick pair of pyjama shorts for B. He also chose this fabric himself, it's a Batman quilting fabric, the pattern is from Ottobre. There's enough fabric left for a pair of winter pyjama pants so he can sleep in Batman pants all year round.

Zeer kleurrijke ochtendjas - a very colourful robe

L had helaas een nieuwe ochtendjas nodig. Ik vond de vorige nog steeds erg leuk maar ja, hij werd toch echt te klein. Ze wilde een ochtendjas met alle kleuren van de regenboog maar lila moest de boventoon voeren. Het patroon komt weer uit Ottobre 6/2011. De voering is een superzachte lila minky de rest is alle kleuren van de regenboog, missie geslaagd! Hij is nog wel een beetje groot, maar dat komt vanzelf wel goed.

L needed a new robe. I still loved the last one I made her but it was really getting too small. She wanted a new robe with all colours of the rainbow but lilac needed to be the main colour. The pattern is again from Ottobre 6/2011. As for the lilac, the lining is a supersoft lilac minky and the remainder of the robe is all colours of the rainbow, mission accomplished! It's still a little bit too large but that'll solve itself eventually.

B is nu aan de beurt, zijn ochtendjas wordt ook te klein.
B needs a new robe now so I have my work cut out for me.

Ook nog een opvouwbaar boodschappentasje in goud met bloemen gemaakt voor m'n moeder. Hiervoor heb ik een tutorial gebruikt van Zaaberry maar ik vond hiervan de hengsels niet groot genoeg. De hengsels van de Piekeboe van Eloleo zijn wel lekker lang.

I also made a little golden tote for my mum. For this I used tutorial from Zaaberry but I found the straps were too short. The straps from the Piekeboe from Eloleo are perfect so I used these.

Pompom tutu

Een paar weken terug liep ik langs een hele mooie gordijnenwinkel in het mooie Warrandyte en in een bak lagen de mooiste restanten. Ik heb er 2 van uitgekozen waaronder een flink stuk vitrage met gekleurde biezen. Toen ik het zag dacht ik gelijk aan een tutu die ik ooit eens ergens op het internet gezien had maar ik kon me niet meer herinneren waar. Toen ik de 'm eindelijk weer vond, bleek dat ik 'm allang eens op m'n Pinterest board had gezet....

A couple of weeks ago I walked past a beautiful curtain shop in lovely Warrandyte and they were selling some gorgeous remnants. I picked out 2, one of them was a large piece of sheer curtain with pink and blue stripes. When I saw it I immediately thought of a tutu I once saw on the internet but I could not remember where. When I finally found it, it turned out I had already Pinned it a long time ago....

Ik heb alleen het idee voor de pompoms ervan gebruikt want ik heb een laag of 6 neonroze tule toegevoegd en een onderrok van 'cotton lawn' - geen idee wat daarvoor het Nederlandse woord is. De tailleband is van boordstof met een extra elastiek erin zodat hij goed blijft zitten. Naast gewone kleine pompoms heb ik er ook glitterpompoms ingedaan, dat geeft een heel leuk effect. L is er zo ontzettend blij mee, ze mocht 'm gelijk aan naar een feestje en heeft 'm de rest van de dag aangehad.

I only used the idea for the pompoms as I added about 6 layers of neon pink tule and a white cotton lawn underskirt. The waistband is a hot pink stretch fabric with an elastic so the skirt will stay up. Next to normal little pompoms, I also added glitterpompoms, very cute. L absolutely loves her skirt, she got to wear it to a party and kept it on for the rest of the day.



Voor datzelfde feestje maakte ik voor het vriendinnetje een tas om de cadeautjes in af te geven. Het werd de pleated tote van The Long Thread. Hiervoor heb ik restjes uit m'n stoffenkast kunnen gebruiken. Het is een leuk patroon en ik zal 'm vast nog een keer maken.

For the same party I made a bag for the presents. I made the pleated tote, a pattern from The Long Thread. I managed to use remnants from my stash. It's a cute pattern and I'll probably make it again.

Theo, eindelijk!

Theo, het patroon van Zonen 09 stond al heel lang op m'n verlanglijstje om eindelijk eens te gaan maken. Het was geen tijdgebrek of gebrek aan zin maar gebrek aan geschikte stof voor een jongen van 7 en driekwart. Stof voor babyjongens is er zat maar zodra je uit de babyprints bent gegroeid, is het (vooral hier in Australie) maar karig. Gat in de markt eigenlijk...

Maar het is gelukt! Ik vond een tijdje terug eindelijk de stof voor een Theo voor B! 

Wat een geweldig patroon, alles is heel precies omschreven. Ik heb standaard maat 134 genomen, helaas gelijk de grootste maat van het patroon.

B's buitenaardse Theo

Theo, a pattern by Zonen09 was high on my list of things to make for B. The only thing lacking was suitable boys fabric for boys of 7 years and 3 quarters. Plenty of fabric for baby boys but for bigger boys.... A little while ago I finally found this universe fabric at my local Spotlight.

The pattern is absolutely awesome, easy to make as every little detail has been described in great detail. I used standard size 134, unfortunately also the biggest size for this pattern....

Afgelopen weekend zijn we gaan rolschaatsen, dat was eens maar nooit weer. De laatste keer dat ik die dingen onder had was ik denk ik 10. Het ging allemaal prima tot ik uit moest wijken voor een klein meisje voor me dat viel.... Het gaat nu na een dag of 5 gelukkig weer wat beter met m'n linkerpols (ik ben linkshandig).

Last weekend we went rollerskating, once, but never again. Last time I rollerskated I think I was 10. It went fine until someone in front of me fell and I had to move out of the way. My left wrist is feeling somewhat better after 5 days and I'm a leftie... 

Het was weer feest - it was party time

Een paar weken terug vierde L haar 6de verjaardag. We hielden voor het eerst een feestje bij ons thuis voor haar vriendinnetjes. Normaal gesproken doen we het buitenshuis, maar het leek me wel eens leuk om het thuis te doen. We hielden een 'sleep under' party oftewel een slaapfeestje waarbij niemand bleef slapen, een pyamafeestje. 

A few weeks ago L celebrated her 6th birthday. For the first time ever we had her birthday party for her friends at our house. We held a sleep under party or pyjama party and everybody had a great time!

Het was superleuk, iedereen had het naar z'n zin en wij ook dus dat was een succes.

Eerst heb ik ze een kussensloop laten versieren met textielstiften. Daarna wat spelletjes, toen pizza en daarna een film en voor we het wisten kwamen de ouders hun kinderen alweer ophalen.

First they decorated a pillow case with textile markers, then we played some games, had pizza and they watched a movie and before we knew it the parents came to pick up their kids. 

Ik had de snoepzakjes zelf gemaakt en om in het thema te blijven had ik er een slaapmaskertje bijgemaakt en aangezien het bijna bedtijd was tegen de tijd dat ze werden opgehaald leek het me wel leuk om er een tandenborstel en tandpasta bij te doen. Natuurlijk ook een hoop snoepjes en andere dingen, dat hoort erbij!

I made the treat bags myself and to stay true to the theme I also made the kids some sleep masks and as it was almost bed time by the time they came home, I also added a toothbrush and toothpaste as well as candy of course.

En geel zal het zijn! - And yellow it will be!

Op school hebben de kinderen woensdag een cross country. Voor zulke dingen is de school opgesplitst in kleurgroepen en broer en zus zitten alletwee in Acacia en moeten op die dag in het geel. Vorige keer kwam ik er te laat achter dat wat er geel was in B z'n kast inmiddels veel te klein was geworden. Ze zeggen van school dat je er niet speciaal iets voor hoeft te kopen dus hij ging naar school met een geel loomarmbandje en wat gele accenten in een verder wit shirt. Helaas voor B vonden sommige van z'n schoolmaatjes dat hij niet genoeg geel aanhad. Deze keer was ik beter voorbereid; donderdag het briefje, vrijdag de meest gele tricot gevonden die ik kon vinden (het heet citroen), een applicatie om het geheel wat stoerder te maken en vandaag de tijd om het geheel in elkaar te zetten. B blij en ik blij.

Pattern Slim Fit T-shirt, Ottobre summer 2007

On Wednesday the kids have a cross country at school. For things like this the school is divided in colour coded groups and both brother and sister are in Acacia or yellow. Last time B had to wear yellow I found out too late that he had grown out of all yellow shirts in his wardrobe. School says you don't need to buy anything so he went to school with a yellow loom bracelet and a shirt with some yellow in it. Unfortunately for Ben some of his school mates didn't think that was good enough. This time around I was better prepared; Thursday I got the note, Friday I found the most yellow stretch fabric I could find (it's called lemon), an iron on number to make it look cool and today the time to put it all together. B is very happy and so am I.

Voor Koningsdag was ik op zoek naar iets om te maken voor de kinderen om uit te delen in hun klas. Laura's Bakery to the rescue! Daar vond ik iets leuks: rood-wit-blauwe meringues. Ik had nog nooit eerder meringues gemaakt maar ze zijn prima gelukt en waren best makkelijk. Tuurlijk eerst een test gedaan en aan de hand daarvan wat dingetjes aangepast. Door die test had ik niet genoeg rode en blauwe gel meer dus ik heb een deel oranje gekleurd, het was zo een heel leuk geheel.

For the Dutch national holiday I was looking for something that I could make for the kid's classes. Laura's Bakery to the rescue! I found a recipe for red-white and blue meringues. I'd never baked meringues before but they worked out perfectly and it was pretty easy. Of course I did a test run and adjusted a few things based on those results. Because of the test I ran out of red and blue gel for the final batch so I coloured half the batch orange and it worked out perfectly!

Ook nog een Ikea lampje bekleed, het is niet helemaal naar wens maar dat is zo verholpen want dit was zo gedaan.

I also covered an Ikea lamp with fabric, not very happy with the result but it's easily fixed as it was a pretty quick project.

Roxie en meer - Roxie legging and more

Het is hier stil, muisstil.... ik zit niet stil maar had even wat andere dingen aan m'n hoofd. De reden hiervoor is dat wij een vakantiehuis hebben gekocht waar we op zich niets aan hoefden te doen maar dat uiteraard toch deden. 

Voor buiten hadden we stoelen en een tafel nodig, een zithoek, een bbq, kasten en nachtkastjes voor binnen en voor 1 van de kamers waar 2 gewone bedden instonden, hebben we 2 stapelbedden gekocht. Het was veel meer werk dat we dachten dat het zou zijn maar het is gelukt, de professionele foto's zijn gemaakt en het staat te huur aangeboden.

We hebben er tussen de bedrijven door natuurlijk ook van genoten, het is maar een uurtje bij ons vandaan en vlakbij 2 stranden (2 minuten met de auto). Misschien dat ik ooit m'n naaimachine meeneem, maar tot nu toe ben ik er nog niet aan toe gekomen.

It's extremely quiet on my blog... working on lots of stuff but not on my sewing projects. The reason for this is that we bought a holiday house for which we had to buy lots of things, organise things and construct Ikea and other stuff.

For outside we needed a new table and chairs, bbq and for inside bunk beds, bedside tables, wardrobes. I was a lot more work than we anticipated but it's all done now, the professional photo's have been done and the house is for rent.

Of course we enjoyed it ourselves as well in between all the jobs. It's only an hour from our house and it's close to 2 beaches (2 minute drive). Maybe I'll take my sewing machine once but so far haven't gotten round to it.

M'n laatst afgemaakte project was de Roxie legging. Een kledingstuk dat ik normaal gesproken altijd links laat liggen, normaal gesproken niet m'n ding, ben meer iemand voor een maillot dan hoef ik ook niet na te denken wat ik aan m'n voeten moet. Maar nu had ik een tuniek gekocht; te kort voor niets eronder (mijn mening) en geen gezicht met een maillot dus ok, dan maar een legging. Het is de Roxie legging van de herfsteditie van La Maison Victor uit rekbaar imitatieleer, in Belgie besteld bij LMV, in Nederland afgeleverd en vervolgens doorgestuurd naar Australie (dankje mam!).

My last finished project was the Roxie legging. A legging is new for me, I prefer tights as then I don't have to think about what to wear on my feet. I bought a tunic which was to short to wear by itself (in my opinion anyway) and not cool with tights so ok, I'll make a legging. It's the Roxie legging from the autumn edition of La Maison Victor and I made it in stretch fake leather; ordered in Belgium at LMV, delivered in the Netherlands and sent on to Australia (thanks mum!)
